Welcome to the official website of our International Theatrical Overview MASSKA, a festival that provides an opportunity to meet artists with disabilities, watch performances by independent groups presenting various forms of theatrical art from all over Poland and different parts of the world.
MASSKA is an open cultural project that involves artists with disabilities, youth theaters, independent theaters, professional actors, and puppeteers, giving the event an integrative character. It encompasses comedies and dramas, monologues, group plays, etudes, and performances, exploring various theatrical forms. It includes theater of words, dance, pantomime, and puppetry - all encapsulated in a single word: MASSKA. Our Review is a confrontation of our perceptions of people with disabilities - artists who often operate outside the mainstream of social life. It is an invitation to exchange thoughts, experiences, discussions, and to celebrate the presence in the world of theater, and above all, the celebration of life conveyed by the performances, both on and off the stage. We all share one idea: the idea of THEATRE FOR LIFE.
All of this has been happening for 22 years annually on the stages of Sopot theaters, for 3 years in the open air, and for 4 years online.
Speaking of the internet... It has been exactly 4 years since we told ourselves that it's time to try something new and take our MASSKA to a different dimension. In the pandemic-induced reality of that time, we created a virtual space for presenting performances as part of our festival. The warm reception of our idea and the enthusiastic response from audiences around the world have convinced us that MASSKA will continue to exist online from that moment onwards. For all those who cannot be with us, for those who create brilliant works on the other side of the world, for those who want to share their creativity with virtual audiences, we invite everyone who, like us, has chosen theater in their lives. And to those who have not yet been enchanted by it, we encourage you to step through the curtain. It's a beautiful world...
